My first shark sighting was in the Lost Blue Hole off Nassau's east coast. A pair of reef sharks were lazily patrolling around just under the edge, and it was super cool, but it was my 3rd open water dive ever and I had to pay more attention to the dive instructor asking us to demonstrate the certification skills.

My second sighting, on the other hand, was at a location where sharks tended to hang out, and whoa, it was intense for a new diver to see several sharks in one spot! But any nervousness went away when I realized the sharks weren't at all interested and were almost going out of their way to avoid us.

My wife and I were diving in the Keys , We all went through a long swim through and I was last. As the group exited in front of me a 5 foot reef shark came in with me from the other side. Coolest thing in the world. He looked at me I looked at him and we swam right by each other.

Both cool and scary. We were diving near Tavernier in the Florida Keys. I looked to the side and saw a reef shark about 15 feet away. It was like we both saw each other at the same time. I went one way and it went the other. What a thrill!

freaking awesome. Saw a lemon shark, it had a hook in its mouth and some line from that hook trailing it... It was so cool though! Sharks rule

When I was in Hawaii, I was hoping so much to see a shark. I haven't seen a shark on a dive yet and I really wanted too (they are my favorite animals). The dive shop said that I probably wouldn't see a shark in the spots we were going to dive. But guess, what, I did! It was a little white tip reef shark. When I saw it I was so excited, i followed it for a little while and then the thought occurred "I"m following a shark..." - he was pretty speedy so I didn't keep following him, didn't want to separate from the dive group or my dive buddy. But it was so cool! I did 3 sets of two tank dives while in Hawaii, and every day they said I wouldn't see a shark, and guess what, I saw a white tip reef shark each day on at least one of the dives. Most of the time the sharks were chilling under a rock ledge "sleeping" - they were so awesome.

Here's a screenshot from my GoPro footage of the first one I saw:white-tip reef shark - Hawaii

During my certification in Florida I saw a shark. We were doing our 1st open water dive and there it was under a ledge. It was scary and a thrill to see. See them all the time in Florida and the Bahamas.

We were off the coast of Florida when my wife bent down to pick up trash off the ocean floor. Just then a large shark cruised by her. She never saw the shark.
