Wind socks? Yes or no?

Have any of you tried a windsock? Where were you, and do they work pretty good?

While, I don't have a wind sock, my neighbors have flags up and I always look at them before pulling the boat out. Also, I am a big believer in checking the weather. I was a flight instructor for over 10 years.  So the weather has always been very important to me.

I’m asking for wind purposes. In case you’re out when a front hits and the wind picks up..
I always check weather before going out on the kayak.. wind socks help push you back to shore( like a sail)
