with Irma looming, wondering what folks do to keep their vessels out of harms way as best as possible for a hurricane. Do you keep it in storage, do you trailer it and take it somewhere, do you anchor it up and hope for the best?

We have two boats on lifts. For the hurricanes we pull them and strap them down on trailers.we try to position the trailers as close to the house as we can to minimize wind exposure. Were been lucky through irma this way. The boats are 26 ft, and 19 ft if that helps. Last year we pulled the largest one and tied the larger one to a neighbors dock on an interior canal. Our neighbors for their 40 ft boat in the middle of the canal with about 15 lines across the canal. So far so good!

Interesting question seeing as we just got hit in Texas. In the past once I pulled it out of cover because the roof wasn't that high. The next time we had moved it to a slip that was higher and left it in the water. This time it was in the water behind the house. We didn't have time to move it so we stay home and watched it to make sure it didn't break loose. We have made plans to have it pulled and placed on blocks. It's a 38 foot Crist Craft. Hope this helps. You just reminded me once down the road a guy had his boat on a trailer and it floated down the street and broke thru a fence. The home owner wouldn't let him have his boat until he gave them repair money for the fence.

Thanks for the info, i hope you didn't get too much damage from Harvey. Hoping I won't get too much damage from Irma too. Still too early to tell how much it will effect me, i'm on the west side of Florida.

I am from the East of Florida and still have family there. I pray you guys don't get hit at all. Let it stay off the East Coast and it go North.

Hope so! I would love for it to turn north early and miss Florida, even if i bought a crap load of stuff in case it comes (like ply wood for windows and supplies etc.)
