I have heard of people getting an old microwave and melting them down into a mold. I have not done this yet, but I was thinking about it.

I pull all monofilament and put it in monofilament recycling boxes (available at many/most boat ramp).

For plastics, I just throw them in the trash.  If they have attached hooks, I wrap them in paper and tape them to prevent accidental puncture wounds-for myself or anyone else handing the trash.

Even with the biodegradable plastics, I'd rather they degrade in a landfill versus a body of water.

I separate hook from plastic and dispose of as recycled plastic and metal.

There are several organizations involved with getting anglers to recycle their plastic baits  Keep America Fishing is a good place to start.  You can take an online pledge to dispose of your soft plastics in a responsible way. They also have a link to "Rebaits", which is trying to place recycle bins for soft plastics around to make it easier for anglers to not dispose of them in the water. Check them out!!!
