I have a 20 year old Aqua lung reg that still works perfect. I have it serviced along with all the others annually. All of my newer regs are Scubapro and they have a lifetime warrenty with free annual service through my LDS.

I just read that a hose manufacture is recommending to replace the hoses every five years. As far as the regs. it depends on how you take care of them and lately from what I've see not very good. Plus the new regs are smaller and good breathers.

As long as you take care of it and service it regularly, your regulator will continue to work for decades. Far more likely that you’ll WANT new gear before you NEED to replace it.

My Subgear has a 30 yr warranty. Only reason I would get another is to have two sets of gear for instruction purposes.

As long as you follow mfg recommendations for service and check hoses your reg will last a long time. You will change it because you just want to and not because you need to.
