Understanding all of the variables. Terrain, sea life, vis, temp, tides, etc. it’s not just about the potential threats out there, it’s also about not missing the cool things that the locals know about... make sure you find someone who knows the area before you go!

I try to get a local orientation from a local dive shop when I dive in unfamiliar places. If you know what to expect, most of the concerns go away or at least you can be prepared for the unexpected.

Viability and depth. Plus currents. Denmark can be rough.
