Yes, hire a dive guide for the first dive on a wreck. It doesn't cost much and they dive the wreck every day and know where all the cool stuff is. You will see more than if you venture out blindly. Very much worth the little extra cash.

If a map is available, get one and study it. Hire a guide. Carry two lights, nothing worse than having a light go out.
