Has anyone had a face to face encounter with a shark?

I was recently going through a coral tunnel and all of a sudden there was a large nurse shark coming the other way. Very exciting! The shark turned a tight “U” turn and went away. Never a hint of aggression,

Yep I have, it was almost like your experience. It was a coral swim through in Key Largo. about half way through I came face to face with a nice sized reef shark. He looked at me and swam right under me. Wonderful experience.

Yes! I was snorkeling about 40ft off our boat while we were waiting for our line to sit out (i participate in shark research during some of the summer months). My buddy and I turned around and there was a 4ft blacktip shark 10ft away from us. Stared right at us, realized neither of us wanted anything to do with each other and then turned around and swam away. Such a cool experience.

I have many times Diving in Palau. The only shark sanctuary on earth. It was beyond awesome. The Blue Corner is the place to see sharks among the many other sea creatures there.
