Have you ever hooked a fish that then became the bait, while still on the line, for a bigger fish?

Yes, one time we were out on a deep sea fishing boat in Florida, and I had a nice Red Snapper on the line, and right when I saw what it was I felt a big tug. I come to find out that a damn shark decided to have a easy snack and we had to cut the line. It made a funny story and we got more fish to make up for it, but that was my first experience with that.

This happened all the time on the chum boats fishing for bluefish in New Jersey. You'd have a nice blue on the line and a shark...sometimes a blue shark ( a lot of fun to catch and so beautiful) would be attracted to the chum and commotion and become your next catch. We would cut them off as landing a shark on a party boat would not be a good idea.
