Do you perfer a spear gun or pole spear?

When spearfishing do you prefer a pole spear or a spear gun and why?

Depends really.  Here we can't spear lobster but lionfish is open season. Pole spear is a bit more challenging when after larger fish. Many purists here only free dive and pole spear fish.
I  tend to use both.

This kind of depends what you are going for, some people like to use the pole spears for flounder and lobsters, and other people use the spear gun for fish that are a little bit more shy and tend to run. I have used both and enjoy each based on what I am going for.
