Did you try Discover Scuba before deciding to get certified?

I never came across it as an option. I've heard of it more recently and think it is a great idea. Trying to get some friends to do it lol

I actually got started when I bought a coupon for a Discover Scuba class on Groupon, LOL. I thought it would be a great idea to try scuba diving in a pool for a night and see if I was comfortable with it and if I enjoyed it enough to make the investment in a full course. I ended up loving it and signed up for the full course just three weeks later (was around the holidays or I would've done it sooner). The thing I appreciated about the Discover Scuba class was that if I hadn't been comfortable or didn't enjoy it enough, I wouldn't have made a substantial investment in a full course.

In my experience, discover scuba scares more potential divers than helps create them. Most dive shops have a money back guarrantee. If, even after the third night with an instructor, you feel you don't want to continue, they will refund your money. Working with an instructor will help you over "hurdles" safely, and help you relax. If this is something you want, an instructor can make all the difference.

I did, but not in the ocean, a friend of mine had some gear and had a saltwater pool. He said hey man try this out, and ever since then I have always enjoyed and loved it. What about you?

I did not, I dont think it was an option when I started. I am a Divemaster and teach it several times a year. About 1 out of 2 go on to get certified. I think 100% love it but only about half want to make the financial commitment.

My parents both were divers so I was raised around it and my intro to diving was using my mom's reg to clean the bottom of our boat. Im glad diving became more exciting lol

We had close friends who were experienced divers divers, one a dive master. They brought their gear over and we tried it in our pool and answered our questions. The rest is history. That was 10 years ago and I wish we had started long ago.

Nope, went all in. My husband is going to try it though to make sure he is comfortable. He doesn't love the water as I do. I think I am part mermaid.
