Tandems are fun because you go faster and can talk more easily, but independence is cool too with two singles. If you are both fairly strong paddlers either way is fine, if one of you is inexperienced a tandem is a better bet.

Both! I like to tandem with the wife as it keeps us together and if she tires out she can relax. I like the singles as we can both be side by side and see each other. I guess it would have to depend on where and what we are doing.

Unless you're totally in sync, you won't go anywhere.. single kayaks have more freedom and you can go faster .
