What is the worst dive you have ever been on?

What is the worse dive you have ever been on?

Was on a dive that had very low vis, around 3'. A storm came through and the dive boat had to sound the underwater alarm after 15mins of starting the dive. We all had to rush back to the boat as fast as possible and get back to the marina. The lightning was so close when we were getting close to the docks, I really thought we were going to get struck. Luckily we didn't and we were all able to get to shelter on time. It sucked that the dive had to be cancelled though. I'm thankful that this is my worst dive, i hope it stays that way ;-)

My worst dive by far was off South Carolina. Nothing to do with the dive itself, which was cold and limited visibility, but with the weather and, mostly, the boat! It was raining and about 10 divers, the dive master and two boat crew were stuck under a plastic tarp on an old diesel boat. The tarp kept the fumes from the engine in the boat with us. Everyone got sick both on the way out and the way back! It was miserable!

I had a rebreather failure at 105 feet when I went to my bailout bottle. All I got was water and I started drowning. Then my dive buddy who had loaned me a regulator knew what was wrong as he had loaned me a regulator with a missing part. He the gave me his bailout bottle and we swarm up to the surface. I had check the reg and it breathed great on the surface.

A high current dive in the Keys that should have been a drift dive. Instead we had to swim against a hard current. Everyone on the dive was exhausted some were air starved. We had a young, inexperienced Divemaster that was only interested in hunting Lion fish. She put the whole group in danger.

I am concerned that some divemasters in the Keys and Caribbean are placing more priority in spearing lionfish over the safety of divers.

When I got certified 20 years ago in Monterey, CA....water cold, surge crazy, foggy and low vis

On a dive in the Gulf of Mexico, we were on a boat with at least 20 other divers. The visibility was less than five feet and we had to stay really close to the anchor line for fear we would miss it if we tried to navigate back to it. When we returned to the boat, the captain nor the divemaster called roll - they said they counted heads! Scary!
