Mini season is great!  You need to put the time in leading up to Wednesday to scout for lobster spots - the ones you already have and scouting for new ones. So much can change year to year that you want to make sure any spots that were good from last year are still holding lobster (must be full grown!) and it's good to tow along the rock lines for new areas to mark.

Mini season has become very popular so you might run into the nutjobs that try to claim "their" spot.  It's become much busier and some people get too nuts so just remember to keep your cool and avoid those who aren't keeping theirs!  Overall great fun though and may easily become a yearly trip for you like it has for us.

Yes but we didn't know it until we were in the keys. So we had to purchase a couple of things, it was a blast. They were going out day and night. The biggest lobster I've gotten was off Wabaso not in the keys.

I have never heard of that, that sounds like a blast. Have you done it, if so how was it?

Yes its great, Florida has a 2 day lobster season the last Wed and Thur of july for divers prior to the opening of the full lobster season. Gives divers a chance to hand catch lobsters before Commercial fishing for them starts in August.
