Going to Cozumel in a few weeks, and heard about the cenotes across in Playa Del Carmen. Are they worth the trip?

I really enjoyed the cenote. It is a unique experience and if you're the least bit interested I'd recommend doing it. It is cold, weara hood for sure!  The best parts for me were swimming through the halocline, where fresh and salt water meet, and surfacing in a grotto, where you can see tree roots. Water is crystal clear!

The better question is , are you cave certified, if so its definitely worth it. Its relatively shallow dives in crystal clear water.

Palancar reef in Cozumel is absolutely incredible but the cenotes are a nice compliment to those dives. Notable differences include that its fresh water (to a certain depth), cave diving, the rock formations and areas of filtered light make for an amazing environment (and great video). The halocline can be really neat as long as too many other divers aren't kicking it around. Bring a good flashlight! Not much for sea life there but it's well worth the experience!
