Why should I get diver insurance, and from who?

Do you All have that?  If yes.... Who and why.? Can you go on a liveabord and not have specifick sciba diver insurance?

We have DAN and would not be without it.  Fortunately we've never used it but we have heard many stories...

The most impactful story was from a woman diving in Mexico.  It was her 2nd dive after certification.  At the conclusion of the dive she was in the water holding the ladder as a wave hit the boat and jerked her arm out of the socket.  Transported to ER in Mexico.  Transported (with her husband) to ER in the US.  She had repair surgery and months of rehab.  DAN paid everything!  (We met this gal in Cozumel - she was diving again!)

We have always had Dive Alert Network. Thought I was going to use them on a dive trip when getting off a beached boat. A wave hit the boat throwing me towards the engines. I had a new camera housing that I protected and hit the engine with my fore.  head. Splitting my head. I told them if I can get the bleeding stopped I would make the next dive. A lady came up to me said she, "was a nurse and could see my skull". Needless to say I didn't make the next dive.
