What is the MOD of air?

Well, we went 230' on regular air. I would not recommend that but we did do it. I was with Cousteau on Calypso. 1989. Off Cape Hatteras, diving on the USS Monitor from the Civil War. We were narced. We knew we would be. (I agree with Cvet's answer.)

The MOD (Maximum operating Depth) for air is 187 feet.

Of course this is too deep for a recreational diver.  When using air, the limiting factors will  be your no-decompression limit, narcosis, and the diver's experience level.

I love going deep, but then my dives are very short.  It's better to stay at a reasonable depth and stay under water longer

Most divers do not realize air can take you to this depth. But remember your not going to be there long and deco will be expected.
