Soaking has kinds gone away. Mainly due to quick disconnect computers and leaking yoke protectors. We have been using Simple Green because I found out the Coast Guard was using it. I have had a plastic garbage can for 20 years. I pour simple green into half a bucket of water and drop the regs in swishing them around. Pulling the hose protectors back. Put them back on a tank blowing air three them to get the water out. Then hang them up to dry.

Good question. I rinse, then soak and then kind of rinse it short again.

I typically rinse mine good at the dive site and when I get home I put everything in a 120 quart ice chest with water and a little dawn and let soak for a few hours then rinse with fresh water and hand in my pool house to dry.

Good rinse does the trick for me.
