What got you interested in diving?

Why did you start to dive? I love the marine life and just the feeling of peace and tranquility when I am down there.

Went snorkeling all the time and saw the divers below me. I thought, "why shouldn't I be experiencing that?"

I'm an oceanographer and could not wait to get my SCUBA cert when I started at the University of Miami so that I could finally see what was underwater. I had gotten into snorkeling on my own but the draw of staying below the surface for an hour at a time was like magic - I've never looked back.

I've always had a fascination with the ocean and the creatures that live there. When I was in college I found that my school had their own dive club with instructors so I got certified and started diving. For the next 20 years I dive off and on, mostly off. Then a few years back I got my kids certified and I've been diving since. I'm kind of obsessed now and try to dive as much as possible.

I have always loved being around the water and when  a deal popped up when I was in college for open water carts my boyfriend (now husband) and I jumped on the opportunity and are so happy we did!

Well, I grew up on the water in Crystal River Florida. At that time we did not have malls or even shopping centers, no McDonald's or Burger King, we had one stoplight! Everything was about the water. My house was directly across from the now famous Three Sisters Spring. Since the bay wraps around the town, turning sixteen and getting a drivers liscence was not a big deal, we could go everywhere by boat. I had been swimming and snorkeling as long as I remember, and some of my friends had some old scuba gear. I would borrow and beg to get enough gear to go diving. I love nature, and I love the water. When I was very young there were many men in the springs filming manatees. I could not believe all the equipment they had. That is where it started for me, one thing led to another and I found out I had to be certified. Now I have been teaching for more than 25 years, and I still love the water.

Grew up at the channel islands dad had a boat and whole family were divers. I started cleaning the bottom of our boat with my mom's reg it was summers and weekends like that. It was a tough life. Now my wife and daughters dive keeping it in the bloodline.

As a kid I was considered a water rat. I learned all the strokes, learned dive of several height diving boards, participated in longer distance swims. Intact at one time swam across the Hudson River.

When at Club Med ( Guadeloupe ) I was offered to learn diving.i was hooked.

I grew up in Crystal River Florida, so the water was part of my life. If you knew someone with gear you go diving. It wasn't until I moved that I got certified (so I could dive with a girl I just met). One thing led to another and I've been teaching since 1990. This has allowed me to travel all over the Caribbean. Now I can't imagine my life away from the water.
