Every dive manual will tell you not to use it.  I have used it (the real kind you have to get from behind the counter).  I have very small passages for an adult, so any little bit of congestion can mean an ear  issue.  I don't use it every time but when I have had to, I had no issues.  Of course everyone is different, so you'll just have to experiment with it yourself.

I have used it for years and my dad for 20+ years both no issues. Don't get the PE you want the PS one behind the counter. It will not help if you have a cold but does help with some cases where you have some drainage. I found taking one pill the night before and one in the morning help very well.

Anytime you have questions on medications and diving contact DAN they likely will have a write up on that exact question. They have doctors that know diving. Very helpful. Join if you havent already

I also have used it for years before they took it behind the counter. Try both and see what works for you. I started using it in California in cold water. It's great and I still use it warm water.
