Do you wear a wetsuit for warm water diving?

Question

What is your wetsuit thickness of choice for diving Hawaii or tropical water?  Full suit or shorty?  Especially want to hear from CA divers, what do you wear in HI.

Definitely! Depending on when you go and how many dives you are planning, you'll want a 3mm or 5mm full suit. I use a 5mm in Hawaii (7mm with hood or drysuit in San Diego), but I generally do 3-4 work dives a day. If you're just doing a couple of rec dives in warmer months a 3 mm would suffice

I dive a 5mm in CA and am fine, actually havent used my 7mm since. cant imagine it in HI. I will take a 3mm and can always unzip if too warm.  Going in mid Sept

I get cold :) would definitely recommend a full 3mm or 2/3 for exposure (sun & stingers too). Have an awesome trip - September is a great month for Hawaii!

I recommend a wetsuit for any dive to protect your body from sharp or harmful things in the water.

Nope, I wear 3 mil shorts and a Sharkzen performance shirt in warm water. I hate wetsuits.

Yes, more for protection than warmth. Even a 1 mil is good for your safety.
