Should a new diver get Nitrox cert?

Yes, here's why, As a new diver with open water only you are limited to 60 ft. Nitrox 32 is safe at that depth. It will extend your bottom time and make surface intervals shorter and you will feel better at the end of the day. Remember that O2 is toxic at depth. Having your cylinder analyzed in your presence is required and the MOD (max operating depth) written on the tag with your initials is also required. Nitrox 32 is safe to around 100 ft. I love it for shallow dives (less than 100ft)

It will always serve you well to get additional training. If will slightly reduce yournitrogen consumption, so on a trip with multiple dives for days straight, it will help reduce your chances of decompression sickness. Using nitrox with air tables (on shallower dives), is a little safer.

Yes, all knowledge is power and it will come in very handy sometime when you want to make a longer dive. It also gives you a better understanding of the role of O2 and N.  It’s also an easy cert, no diving required.
