Breathers have taken their share of divers lives. Is it the breathers or the divers?

Mostly the cost and then there;s the set-up time. It takes about 30 mins just to go through the self tests after you install the cartridge. The nice thing is unlimited (almost) air and no bubbles along with extremely long bottom times.

I personally have no knowledge of them and don't foresee the need to. I am happy with just diving.

I've own three and had fun diving them. The problem is my dive buddy doesn't dive a rebreather and when they need to surface, I have plenty of time left. I dove my first rebreather about 20 years ago. Technology has changed a lot during these years.

They are certainly expensive, you can stay under water for extended times, they make no noise, you really have to pay attention to them, and you need a buddy who also has one. A dive boat will probably not want you aboard.
