I currently have a short BC knife that has a serrated edge and a smooth edge and is sharp, as well as a longer knife i have on my leg that is also sharp and has both serrated and non-serrated edges. I've been thinking of getting a blunt knife though. What is your preference and why?

I've given up on big knives. I have a small titanium knife with straight and serrated cutting edges. It has a blunt tip.  Unless I'm spear fishing and need a point to dispatch a fish, I see the point as a danger to myself and my BC.

I have always carried a large knife on the inside leg (dive in a lot of kelp) so it has it's purpose. I just picked up a nice small one to mount on my BC inflator hose, so far I like it but have not had to use it yet.  Whatever your preference and dive conditions permit is whats best.  For some it is fishing line and others kelp, both call for different cutting measures. Theres not one answer.

Blunt. Just seems safer in case it slips or something.
