What do you use to keep gasoline from spilling over onto the boat when filling up?

Always a good idea to use spill pads and absorbent socks as a precaution. I have heard of some spill guards for use during fueling.

I rip a hole in a bilge absorb pad and poke the pump through the hole; protecting the deck all around the fuel intake.  This has helped when the pump is leaky, or delivers too fast, or air bubbles in lines or fuel fills. 

Know your boat. Know about how much fuel you need to take on. Listen. Use care.

I have seen the fuel guards used and the absorbent pads work better. 

Please don't rinse into our waters; mop up any spills with a rag and dispose properly.

I recently saw a plastic devise that you insert in the opening of the boat's gas tank and then put the nozzle into it. It prevents a "burp" of the gas to spill out. Pretty good idea.
