I haven't speared fish yet in my diving career, but I would definitely like to try. To this point, I've been concentrating on mastering my dive skills before I throw something spear fishing into the mix. I have a friend and scuba instructor that have speared for lionfish. I know they are plentiful and as an invasive species, you are doing the ecosphere a favor by lessening the population. You can find them anywhere from North Carolina down through the Florida Keys and I think as far south as some Central American waters along the Atlantic. Also, I've never personally tried eating lionfish, but I've heard they are very tasty fish.
