I was diving for fossils and had my go pro on my head using the head-strap, at the end of the dive my husband and I were getting ready to ascend. I was brushing a hair away from my face that was floating and then realized, the go pro was no longer on my head! We had just reached 700 PSI (well, he did, I was still at almost 1500...) anyway, I was thinking, i have to look just for a second, it couldn't have been lost that long ago. but while we were getting ready to ascend we kicked up a lot of silt, the vis was almost zero... I was still sitting on my knees at the bottom (30ft) i had to get up over the silt cloud and start going back the way I came, only about 5ft away from me I spotted the GoPro. I couldn't believe it. i thought I had lost it for sure. Needless to say, I always have it tethered to me now so that if it falls off it is still attached to me. Lesson learned!

I have found several knives and a speargun (no spear). Piles of megaladon teeth as well as many other shark species. A dinosaur tooth, bones, claws, and human teeth. A fossilized tusk. Coins and silver. Weights, masks, snorkels.

I have lost one light in all of my dives. I have found a few too. I've found fishing tackle, a shotgun, a fin (just one), a couple of masks and a lot of junk. People in boats are somewhat trashy, beer cans, soda cans etc.

If you found the fin in Galveston bay I have the other fin. Years ago when the Gulf Stream move into West Palm I would be pulled under water finding anchors and fishing poles. It's fun to find stuff.

I was diving looked down and saw a divers body face down on the rocks...at first that is what I saw. A second look was a relief but a puzzling one as no diver just an entire scuba unit. Air still on, computer read something like 12 hrs cant recall, but it was down for a while. Towed it back to the boat and a while later  a guy came over in a zodic claiming it. Boat crew knew him as a customer and it checked out. Not exactly sure of the story tho.

Sadly, I lost my GoPro camera on a dive off Grand Bahama Island. I thought the strap was secured around my wrist and let the camera drop, but it fell to the reef instead (it was a little negatively buoyant due to a wide angle lens on front). By the time I realized it wasn't on my wrist, I had moved probably 40-50 yards away. I did a short search for it, but no luck, and I had limited air left for the return to the boat.

If anyone goes diving at the Mountains site near Tiger Beach and finds a GoPro on a short handle labeled "Lietzke", probably close to the base of the anchor line, drop me a note either here or by email at my Shark Zen username @yahoo.com. The camera will be toast after several months in the water, but I'd love to see if I can get anything off the camera card.

I hope you do get it back. There are some honest divers out there that would try to get it back to you.

Tip: the first photo on your GoPro should be of your contact info and if lost someone honest hopefully will contact you. Worth the chance.
