In air share demonstration do you grasp BCD or Roman handshake?

SSI class taught Grasping BCD, Padi taught Roman handshake. Different instructors teach different ways

I can't recall what we did in class, I think the roman. However  I think it would depend on the situation and individual. I think the BCD grasp is more secure and controlling method as it is harder for the other to let go especially if in a panic situation. If the buddy is calm and you know them well an arm grab may be fine. I prefer the BCD grasp no matter what or who and I have that choice.

It is something my dive buddy and I have not practiced in a while. We need to do this soon.

I also did SSI, but we learned both methods - it depends on the instructor. In the end, it comes down to common sense too ;-) but at least by teaching at least one of these ways, there is a hopeful understanding that in a situation your buddy will also know what to do without trying to 'explain' it underwater during an emergency.
