What was it that first drove you to start scuba diving?

For me it's an evolution from snorkeling and a passion for the ocean and everything in it. After seeing coral heads up close in shallow water and seeing amazing structures from snorkeling way above, how can you not want to dive deep and experience everything below and be immersed in such an enchanting alien world. What's your story?

I have always loved the ocean and most trips included beaches so snorkeling was always part of my trips.

I had a friend who got certified and talked about how amazing it was to be face to face with the sea life and not have to worry about surfacing for another breath of air like snorkeling. I had a cruise to Roatan coming up and thought why not. After that first ocean dive in Roatan I was hooked, little did I know the addiction would only grow with every dive! It's not the cheapest hobby but by far the best thing I've ever gotten into!

I started diving after it was introduced to me by a friend. My wife and I decided that its would be a fun family activity. She is now an Advanced Open water diver along with my son and I am a Divemaster. Now all of our vacations revolve around diving. Best decision we every made. Spouses make the best dive buddies.

My wife and I love the outdoors and we love the water.  We always knew we were missing most of the earth’s beauty under water.

Scuba diving has become our getaway.  Our kids are not certified yet.  We enjoy that this is something we do as a couple.  Scuba diving is a great getaway, but it’s great for marriage as well.

My childhood I was raised in it my parents both dove and we had a boat. I spent most of my childhood years at the islands in the water. It was easy and natural for me.

Jacques Cousteau....Ii grew up in New Jersey and as a kid watched the Jacques Cousteau TV shows and read all his books. I wanted to learn more about the ocean and dreamed of being a marine biologist. Learning to SCUBA was the next step, and at age 16, I became certified. This was not the norm back then as teenagers just did not learn to dive. I then would travel each summer to the Florida Keys with my Nikonos camera to learn more about warmer waters. Although I do not dive anymore, I still love the sea and everything about it.

I was doing a lot of snorkeling and really wanted to get closer to the fish.  I hated constantly clearing the snorkel and all the work involved trying to go deeper.  I watched a lot of friends get certified and it was just an easy progression.  I love the water and getting certified just made my joy of the water even better.
