7' graphite pole 10-20# test with a comparably matched reel.  The fin nor sport fishers (4000 size) are inexpensive but solidly made.  15-20# braid with 30# 18" fluorocarbon leader.  I would purchase a few different swim baits.  Top water Zara Spook 4", rapala glass minnow for midwater, and a 3/4 oz bucktail with a uncle Josh's strip for the bottom.  There are also a number of plastic baits you could rig with weighted trokar hooks that will get you down to the bottom.  Good luck and good fishing!

bluefish rigs work great as well.  They take a little practice to cast well but if you are targeting blues they work great and also will catch the occasional Red Drum and shark.  All fun to catch.

If pompano and black drum are in the water, a pompano rig works great.  Pompano rigs also work well catching blow toads if they are in the water.
