As fishermen we should be aware of the dangers of both monofilament and braided line to wildlife. We should be using a container to hold all the pieces of line we break off, or cut off, and take it to a recycling center that are located at docks and marinas, or dispose of it at home. Educating fisherman on this topic is something that has been started but needs to be continued through social and other media. Volunteer opportunities exist that could generate community service hours to place recycling containers at various locations to be used by fishermen, or to educate the public at various events.

Good answer by Boneyard. Agreed! - I guess it boils down to EDUCATION and the various ways of easy collection and disposal (not overboard or on the rocks or sandy shore). The ocean is not a garbage dump! I suppose that along with education has to be an appeal to many people's selfishness (and ignorance). Explain to people what is in it for them. The damage (and suffering) that is caused...and can be easily avoided.
