If I am running out of the pass and notice a good out-going tide, I will drop lines and troll it. I've caught many large Kingfish this way. Its great when the bigger boats come in with little "snake" Kings and I throw a nice "smoker" up on the dock. They've been way offshore and battled rough seas...and I never went past the buoy line.
