Have you ever looked down and noticed shark(s) patrolling underneath your SUP? How did you react? Would love to hear the story.

I lived on Little Torch Key in Florida and would paddle board around the island a couple of times a week. At the Eastern tip there were always Bonnethead sharks and sometimes Nurse sharks. They always scattered as soon as they realized you were near. Enjoyed seeing them. I miss that island.

I've encountered sharks on both my SUP and my kayak.   Most interesting story - while reeling in a bonita, had a big bull shark run into the front of my kayak chasing it.  Other than trying to get a free meal, they are completely harmless.  More concerned with getting hit by a boat than hurt by a shark.

If the water tastes salty you've encountered a shark.

Assume they are there if the water is salty, Ive paddled about 1000 miles of salt water and haven’t seen one from my board...eventually I may. The ocean and weather conditions can be more dangerous than anything in it. Shark banz makes a magnetic ankle strap that disorients/ confuses  them at close range. Shark Skins makes some apparel that hides our bio electrical magnet signal that they sense. Can’t say how effective they are but I have them both. Shark deterrent devices for scuba are more expensive and techy. These companies sometimes have demo videos you can watch.
