I have found if I drink more water and stay away from the alcohol. My amount of leg cramps drop. I usually start several days ahead of going dive and it works for me.

Stop and grab the tip of your fins, pull back to stretch the muscle. It could be you are dehydrated, or vitamin deficient (potassium) eat some bananas and drink more water. Or it could be you are just in need of swimming more to build up those muscles. Change your kick strokes periodically, from the flutter to dolphin (different muscles).

Grab the tip of your fin and stretch the calf muscle. This is taught in PADI OW class. Works great with open heel fins with boots. Doesnt work as well with full foot fins, they can come off the foot and cause more problems especially if they are not floating fins lol.

Ugh, leg cramps are a pain in more ways than one! I'll grab the tip of my fin and pull back to stretch out the calf muscle for a minute and that usually takes care of it. And back on the surface, I'll drink a lot of water to rehydrate, since dehydration is often a factor with cramps.

Also, some people swear by mustard as a home remedy for relieving cramps, so I always carry some turmeric capsules in my dive bag. Turmeric is the active ingredient in mustard if, like me, you don't like the taste of mustard itself.

O, I hate when this happens, just minding my own business when, BAM Charley Horse. I have had this happen to me a few times, I usually look at my dive buddy and go to the bottom and just stretch it out, thats really all you can do, and make sure you drink plenty of water!
