Dive knife, shears, or both?

I've transitioned away from the big dive knives. I'm thinking about transitioning from a knife to shears. Anyone diving with shears and a knife or shears instead of a knife?

If you can take both, I'm sure it can't hurt to have both. If you can only take one my preference would be the knife just in case of a defensive situation. I'm sure you could stab things with shears but it isn't designed for that. Now have I ever had to do that, no. But ya never know lol.

If bringing both I would probably carry a small BC knife and some nice shears.

I always carry a knife on my inside leg and just mounted a small one on my bc inflator hose. I have not carried anything else. I prefer a knife personally especially diving in lots of kelp here in CA a knife is key. Fortunately I rarely if ever need it for kelp but just in case.

Hmm. Never tried shears before. I could see hem being useful however. Guess it would be preferance

I like the shears myself, they fit great in a BCD pocket and dont get in the way. They are easy to use with one hand when cutting fishing line. Probably not good for Kelp but there is no Kelp in the places I dive.

I am using shears now, less sawing required

I still carry a knife with a point, strapped to my leg. But I also put shears in my BC pocket.
