I know some people have use Kayaks to go offshore a little bit and do some SCUBA or even in rivers. Have you done this? If so, what is it like? I'm assuming you tow your kayak with you as you dive, if not, what is your set up like? I want to do this one day for finding fossils in the river and offshore (about a mile offshore). However I have to wait for my buddy to get a kayak too... I will not dive alone.

I have thought of it, I see many have a pretty col set up. It would be a great alternative to hauling and launching a zodiac or surface swimming. You mentioned towing it with you, some I think will anchor it too.

I have never scubaed from a kayak even though I would like to sometime. I dive from dive boats all the time but diving from a kayak adds a whole nother aspect to diving. First of all you have to kayak to the dive site then you do your dive and after your dive you have the experience of paddling back to shore. It sounds like a great idea and I will try to dive from my kayak soon.
