I have been diving since 1960 when I got out of the Army the first time. There were only weight belts during this period of time. When I became a dive instructor I purchased a Zeagle BCD which had weight pockets and I'll never go back to a belt. When I was dry suit diving I always had a shifting weight belt and it was always uncomfortable.

I have integrated weight pockets on my backplate/wing harness, which I find far simpler and it keeps me better balanced.

Weight integrated for sure! never go back to belt again if I have the choice. WI is more comfortable and user friendly I think. Some people like my daughters who don't have much of a hip have a struggle keeping the belt up.

I bought a BCD at the earliest opportunity, and the one I chose happened to be weight-integrated, which I loved! I'll never go back to a belt if I can help it. I remember well the bruises those lead weights left on my hips, no matter how I distributed the weights around the front and back. Plus, weight belts were always far too long on me, leaving a lot of extra length to potentially get caught on something.

I love using my integrated weights on my BCD, it has its own pockets and I just stuff some weights down there and I do not have to worry about putting a weight belt on.

I would always go with an integrated weight pocket. It is more comfortable, it is safer (less opportunity to get tangled), and it is convenient.
