Kinda depends on your target species. A simple top and bottom rig with cut bait or crab or clam is a good rig for any fish. When I lived in Florida and fished the mullet run for snook, a fish finder rig (sliding egg sinker) with a live mullet tossed into the trough and walked down the beach with the current was the rig to use. I have used that same rig in the surf here in NC for flounder during their fall migration with good success. I have even used the fish finder rig with a DOA Baitbuster and have caught flounder. I tend to use a short rod and fish the trough when I surf fish, so a bucktail jig with a Gulp minnow or a shad tail has worked for flounder and redfish as well. There's just so many variations of rigs....that's why saltwater fishing is never boring.
