If you’re cleaning your fish at home, where do you dispose of the fish carcass, guts..

Fortunately our town has a disposal/recycle center that I take the waste to pretty much right away after cleaning the fish. Putting it in our trash container has been a smelly way, although I have gone so far as to put the waste in zip lock bags so it wouldn't smell.

Interesting question. I live on the water and while I don't fish my neighbors all do fish. When they clean they toss everthing back into the water. Then here come the birds, flying all over and diving to get something to eat. Then they poop all over over the place. If it has a shell they drop on it my driveway trying to break it open. So much for living on the water.

Where I live, nice but suburbs, I'd wrap in a plastic bag and then take to the town dump during my next visit there (within a couple days though). Same as we do with lobster shells. If I were on the water, depending on which water, I'd be inclined to share the scraps in the water, for the birds and any bottom dwellers, e.g. crabs. So long as not too much. I view it as biodegradable...so long as not too much.

Once cleaned we wrap everything up in newspaper and throw the newspaper in garbage bags. I do like the idea of recycling it back in the water, will do that this coming summer if I can convince the rest of my family.

I like the idea too, I’d rather feed pelicans anyday than the nasty alley cats lol

I put them in a zip lock bag and freeze them.  On trash day I pull out the frozen block and throw it in.
